I grew up in a large family – two older brothers, five younger brothers and one younger sister. My dad worked hard to supply our needs and introduced us to skiing, skating, fishing, hunting, golf, and a host of other things, while my mom was a "stay at home mom" who loved to read, sew, knit , play piano and sing. She encouraged us kids to pursue music in school - I think we all played an instrument in the school band. I remember as a little girl standing next to the piano while mom played; singing my little heart out. Never once did she tell me I was out of tune, or discourage me in any way. She would just play and let me go… I’m sure it was this time in my life where I developed my passion for music.
I live in Grand Haven, a small town on the shore of beautiful Lake Michigan, known for its ties to the United States Coast Guard. If you haven’t visited us yet,
please come, you will be glad you did. I am employed by the Grand Haven Area Public Schools where I have driven a school bus for the past twenty two years. It’s a
great job and the kids keep me young. When June rolls around I start feeling a little bit older, but summer is when I get really busy with the music and then: I
get young again. Some people would call it a vicious circle – I don’t ever want this circle to end.
In between the bus driving and music I enjoy my grand kids. I have been blessed with five of those special little people. My oldest grandson, Cameron, plays the
cello in the school orchestra. He’s working his way up to play the upright bass like his grandpa does. Our oldest granddaughter, Makenna, likes to play the mandolin
when she comes to visit. Connor is just getting interested in music. We took him and his brother, Cameron, to a music festival and they sat at the main stage for two
straight days listening to the music. What is really cool is that they both want to go again. Jackson and Savanna May are too young for the music festivals, but you
can bet it won’t be too long and they’ll be there.
Another seasonal interest I have is baseball – HOW ABOUT THEM TIGERS??!!!!!! (Doing well as of this writing in 2011.) I’m sad that the season is coming to an end, but
I’m looking forward to the playoffs. GO TIGERS !!!!!!
I have discovered the sights and sounds of the casinos, and I must say, I do enjoy visiting once in a while. It was the inspiration for my latest song, "It Could Happen". I’m not going to get rich, but my luck hasn’t been all that bad. Wish me luck!
